How to Convert PGM to JPG

PGM (Portable Graymap), part of the Netpbm family created in the late 1980s, stores grayscale image data at 8 bits per pixel in a simple, uncompressed structure that's easy for command-line tools and research software to read directly. PGM files aren't supported by everyday photo viewers, browsers, or social platforms, which is why converting to JPG is necessary anytime grayscale output from a research tool or computer vision pipeline needs to be viewed or shared outside that technical environment.

Since PGM has no color channels at all, converting to JPG doesn't add any color — the result stays grayscale, just compressed into a smaller, more broadly compatible file.

1. Install Turbo Batch Image Converter Pro on your Windows PC.
